Terms of Service

These terms apply to petral.xyz, its embeddable panels and petral accounts (together, “petral” or “the service”). By using the service or creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. The service
petral is a free information service that displays and summarises publicly available energy market data. It may change, add or remove features, or stop operating, at any time and without notice. There is no guarantee that any feature, data series or the service as a whole will remain available.
2. Not advice
Nothing on petral is investment, financial, trading, legal or tax advice, or a recommendation or solicitation to buy or sell anything. Read the Disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.
3. Data
Data comes from third parties and is provided as received, often delayed, and may be incomplete, revised or wrong. Each series is labelled with its source and freshness (see Methodology & Sources), but you are responsible for checking anything you rely on against the original source. Third-party data remains the property of its owners and may be subject to their own terms.
4. Your account
- You must give a valid email address you control and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- An account is for one person. Do not create accounts by automated means or to get around a restriction.
- You can delete your account at any time from its settings. We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk.
- Email updates, such as the weekly EIA summary, are optional and separate from your account. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- overload, disrupt or attack the service, or get around its rate limits or security;
- scrape, crawl or otherwise extract data from the site by automated means, including headless browsers, or call its internal data routes directly;
- use the service for anything unlawful, or to mislead others about where data came from;
- redistribute data in breach of its original source's terms.
6. No public API
petral is a dashboard for people, not a data feed. It offers no public API, and the routes its pages use to load data are internal: they may change at any time and are protected against automated access. Embedded panels (petral pages shown in a frame on another site) are allowed, with their attribution left in place.
7. Intellectual property
The petral name and mark, the site's design and its original text and code are owned by petral. You may share screenshots and the share cards petral generates, with their attribution left in place. Data shown on the site belongs to its respective sources.
8. No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, timeliness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, petral and its operators are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of, or inability to use, the service or any data on it, including trading losses, lost profits or indirect and consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Changes
These terms may be updated. The date at the top shows the latest version; continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
